A new Trinkgut distribution centre was constructed on the plot in Hafenstrasse in Hamm from September 2005 to May 2006. The building plot has an area of approx. 120,000 square metres, the warehouse building (bottled products and empties)
covers approx. 25,000 square metres.
Our office was involved in this project as consultants and provided experts' reports and documentation on the earthwork necessary for the construction of the new distribution centre. Initially, some 15,000 m3 of building rubble had to be cleared to prepare
the plot for building.
The rubble was recycled on site in a mobile recycling plant and could therefore be reused later as part of the refilling material needed. Following extensive tests of the mechanical properties of the soil and chemical tests on the site, materials were either
reused for widespread refilling or partially disposed of. The necessary compaction controls were done by means of density measurements, plate loading tests and heavy dynamic penetration soundings.
One or two members of our staff were on the site continuously, due to the short construction period. Testing of the mechanical properties of the soil was done on the spot in a field lab.
